(If you've been around my blog you know that my husband does furniture restoration - he used to do it full time, but now only does it on the side. He's really talented if I may brag as his wife!)

The dresser was my Grandfather's. Yep, it was an ugly greenish brown color and had horrible hardware. Paul spent a long time on it and surprised me with it for Christmas that year.
The oak bookcase was found for $10 at an unfinished furniture store going out of business. It didn't have shelves. Paul found an old board (that we had taken out of the closet) planed it down and refinished it. You'd never guess that they didn't come together.
The crib came from the same shop going out of business. Of course, unfinished again! Yeah! We got to use the same stain for everything in the room! The crib cost us $50.
The McKay Spring Rocker you can see (there's actually 2 in the room) were made in the 1960s. We got them from the same store for $20. You wouldn't believe how ugly they looked. Paul took them apart, refinished the wood, and my Mom (who works at a powder coating company) took them to work and had them sandblasted and powder coated. I bleached the vinyl and we put them back together!
The Nursery Set (crib skirt, quilt, curtains, basket liner) all were made with love by my Mom and I. Yep, the nesting phase kicked in full force and that's what actually brought my machine out of storage. I have my daughter to thank for my restored love of sewing and everything crafty. (Funny note: my friend came to visit and had a burp cloth she had made for me. It was the same fabric family as what was in her room. It now covers her diaper creams in the basket!)
The rug and bumper were bought second hand from some family friends. They look so nice with it all!
The letters were purchased from JoAnn's on sale and I had my husband stain and spray them.
The tree was from a google search for similar things. At the time they weren't as popular. A coat rack came up and that got me going on a cutout for the wall. (I wish I had the link to send you to. It was really cute! He had the idea to put patterns as the leaves.) We just used a piece of plywood, cut it out, stained and varnished it. Then the leaves we covered with leftover fabric. At first I attempted to iron on plastic before cutting out the fabric for the leaves. My thought was that they would wipe off when they got dirty. That didn't work so well. Now I figure I'll be sick of the fabric patterns before the fabric gets too dirty anyway!
Did I miss anything? Oh, the closet. That's another day.

Things have changed a bit in the last 9 months ~ It's not quite done yet. We have a small 3 bedroom house and we decided that for now the kids can share a room (and I get the 3rd room for my business). Yeah, how awesome is that!
Here are a few pics I snapped the other day. The frames by the window need to be painted and filled with baby boy pics. The monkey and dog need to be stained or painted as well. What colors? Should I just have them stained dark or should I go for the dark teal? My daughter's toddler bed is out of the pic, but there under the tree. I tried to separate the room kiddie corner into boy and girl. I have teal bins that match his quilt and pink for hers. What about the curtains? I think I may just leave them until my son gets old enough to be annoyed by the girly-ness. Any ideas/suggestions?
