Grandma’s Plate

Oops! At my Grandma’s house there lived a plate - gorgeous teals, blues and browns. Hand painted with care and treasured for years by her and many others. She presented this plate to me just before she passed a year and a half ago. A treasure to me. This morning this treasure was broken. Pieces strewn across the kitchen floor. Tears shed & a mommy choosing grace instead of anger. You see I’ve been studying in James about these subjects {Read More}

Mid Century Reupholstery Progress!

Mid Century Modern Couch Reupholstery Update! I know it’s been a bit of time since I’ve shared our progress. Honestly we haven’t worked on it as much as we thought we would be able to. The challenge is great, but we’re banking on the rewards when we’re done! Don’t remember the original? Check it out here when we first started this project. It’s a couch from my Husband’s Grandma’s home years ago. We’ve had it in our basement for years {Read More}

Wind-Proof & Water Resistant Mittens Tutorial

Pin It I put on my daughter’s mittens the other week & she preferred her baby mittens without the thumb that she wore the year before. So, away she went outside and before I knew we had to go inside because her hands were so cold. With that I began to think about wind-proof, water-proof items and PUL (a laminated, flexible fabric used for making cloth diapers) came to mind. So, here goes a loose tutorial for you in we’ll {Read More}

Valentine’s Hoop Art

Here’s a little something my daughter helped me with the other afternoon. She loves to help push down the sewing foot & pick out fun stitches. Both kids love to push the buttons on the machines. I picked out scraps of minky fabric, sewed pieces, cut out shapes and simply sewed squiggly lines across for texture. My daughter claimed them for her room! Do you decorate for the holidays/seasons?

Maybe It’s a Good Thing….

Over the past few months I’ve posted more about my quiet times, what God is teaching me, and the fact that it can be difficult to fit it in. Here are some ramblings of what God laid on my heart today ~ I just want to clarify something that I felt I needed to share out of in my studies this morning. 1~ I’m not always going to say everything clearly on this blog - what may make sense in {Read More}

Perception and Assumptions in Marriage

When asked to be a part of this series I had a hard time thinking of how I could share without crossing boundaries and privacy levels in my marriage. When I say I am open on my blog, I am, but it’s with “my story” and not bringing in others’ personal stories. With that said I decided to take a bit of a different twist ~ so here it goes! There have been plenty of times I have disappointed others {Read More}

Polyvore Fun

I signed up for Polyvore the other day to see how people create outfits and practice putting pieces together. What do you think of these outfits? I’m keeping my eyes open at thrift shops for some key items as well as digging through my closet to find what I have (& can donate.) (See my past post here for more.) What’s on your list of things to buy? =) spring dreamin’ by geekyandsassy featuring gold jewelry Mix and Match Fun {Read More}
