Wind-Proof & Water Resistant Mittens Tutorial

Pin It I put on my daughter’s mittens the other week & she preferred her baby mittens without the thumb that she wore the year before. So, away she went outside and before I knew we had to go inside because her hands were so cold. With that I began to think about wind-proof, water-proof items and PUL (a laminated, flexible fabric used for making cloth diapers) came to mind. So, here goes a loose tutorial for you in we’ll {Read More}

Valentine’s Hoop Art

Here’s a little something my daughter helped me with the other afternoon. She loves to help push down the sewing foot & pick out fun stitches. Both kids love to push the buttons on the machines. I picked out scraps of minky fabric, sewed pieces, cut out shapes and simply sewed squiggly lines across for texture. My daughter claimed them for her room! Do you decorate for the holidays/seasons?

Dry Erase Board - Love Edition

Since Valentine’s Day is coming up in just over a month I thought I’d share a little project I did for a friend’s wedding the other year. Add a dry erase marker, and here’s 1 gift for the new couple to write little lovenotes back and forth to each other in the morning. I had their initials embroidered tone on tone so the messages on the glass show up well. I don’t have an embroidery machine, but I brought {Read More}

Christmas Decor

This year we are in the middle of redecorating after finishing off a room in the basement. This leaves me re-thinking where I put things and how I decorate for Christmas. Having little kids and the fact that I purged too much stuff for a garage sale (does anyone else do that?) limits my decorations a bit.Avoiding shots of laundry baskets (hey, let’s be real here. My house is lived in all day here’s what I have so far…. Look {Read More}

Cloud 9 Sea View Quilt - Finished!

Quilt Finished (Finally!) Ok, so last year when Kate Conklin showed this quilt on her blog, I knew then and there I had to make it. It was the look I wanted for our bedroom. Her pattern was very easy to follow and fun to make! I struggled with just deciding how to quilt it and then finishing it with so many things going on. Well, I did 3 different things while quilting it and even hand stitched the binding {Read More}

Blushing - Copic Tote

Update: Blogged Dimensions for your own tote here. Kristy from Some Odd Girl did a little video of the custom tote I made for her. She is just too sweet =) If you’re making your own and want to know ~ where to find the grid - it’s in the dropped ceiling section of any large hardware store - the fan grid. It comes about 3 times the size that you need. I found 1 piece for around $13. yes, {Read More}

Baby Booties

Here’s a little something I made for my son - yes, my son. Hey, they’re blue, orange and brown. I think boys can have bold colors too! This is from Anna Marie Horner’s Handmade Beginnings book. They were quite simple to make & a quick little project. I usually do a little review, but honestly the most difficult part of them was to sew the buttons on by hand ~source~ What have you been up to? Don’t forget, we’re {Read More}

Made it ~ Bathroom Art

I shared the other month my liking for yo-yos. There’s a heart yo-yo maker that I was messing around with. Add an empty frame and some fabric, and I made a little piece of art for my bathroom wall. What do you think?

From Shirt to Pants - Toddler Style

A quiet afternoon last week I had my cell phone in hand, kids fast asleep and no camera ready, so poor cell phone quality pics will tell the story. The story of the faded Mountain Hardwear shirt to toddler pants. The shirt was on a mannequin and faded in the store window. A few snips…. A few thousand stitches….. And a pair of toddler pants my daughter actually asks to wear! I love how the side of the {Read More}
