This summer has been tiring and wonderful so far. Tiring because I’m over 3o weeks along with baby girl and I’m trying to keep up with my two little munchkins at home. Wonderful because life has slowed a bit and I’ve found time to rest amongst the chaos. I will share a bit more later this week, but in the meantime, I wanted to let you in on a little project… I found these animal pictures in frames for probably {Read More}
Removable Chalkboard in Your Kitchen ~ A little DIY for under $12
My boring cupboards needed a pick-me-up and this weekend I pulled out the Chalkboard Contact Paper and covered two doors. I want to share with you a few tips on how to do this the easiest. I had my cupboard doors off and this worked easily. Clean surface well and allow to dry. Lay contact paper face down and score edge to fit. Line up the manufacturer’s clean edge with one side of cupboard. Mark top, bottom and opposite side. {Read More}
My Writing Space
Just 3 weeks ago my sewing room looked like this. One project after another without taking the time to pick things up in-between and I was swimming in clutter. A few hours later and a bit of shifting furniture I am in love with the progress and direction of this room. No longer just for sewing and crafting, it is now a place I write. And to not give you the false sense that I have everything together, here’s {Read More}
Catching Up On Fall
We went to a Birthday Party at Chuck E. Cheese last night and the kids had a ball! It was fun to watch them run around and choose what they wanted to do. This morning I am attempting to put into practice a few things I learned at the conference and am now going to “shut down” the computer to focus on my kids. Speaking of ~ if you haven’t signed up to get posts in your email, check it {Read More}
Fall Candles
I’m a cheap frugal person. It makes a huge difference in our economy when we shop local or buy handmade. With that I want to share with you my candle secrets. My house smells amazing. It does because I have beautiful candles. Want to know my money saving secret? I buy vintage glassware and go to my local candle shop and they fill them with the scent and color I want. Do you have a local candle maker you could {Read More}
Vintage Estate Finds!
This summer we’ve been finding a few new vintage items to add to our home. The first I have to share is this typewriter. I fell in love with an $80 one at a local second hand store. Sadly, it stayed there. A few days later my husband knew what he had found when he was at an estate sale in our neighborhood. $3 and he brought home a huge surprise for me! On the way to the beach on {Read More}
Illuminate Challenge for August
Here’s the verse I’m memorizing for August for the Illuminate Challenge. (I work on memorizing items by playing with design - that’s what you see above.) & I’m reading through Nehemiah for the month. I hope you’ll join me and or take part in #shereadstruth as we follow short reading programs each day. The important thing is that we are reading God’s Word. Daily connecting with Him. Our days are filled with words that take the oxygen out of the {Read More}
Walking in the Light of God’s Presence
From the shores of Lake Michigan God’s creation sings…. & may we all walk in the light of God’s presence every day.
No Soliciting Please!
I had a biting post here that I have decided to delete. I want Geeky & Sassy to be a place of encouragement, kindness and grace. Here are a few signs my non-designer self made this week. I’m going to print one out and put it on my door. I figure that the little neighbor kids with their chocolate will not know what it means and will still knock. Just right-click save and print at your home. Use as you’d {Read More}
Color Inspiration 2012
I love color, and with that comes my desire to paint. I don’t know if it has to do with the fact that I’m trying to cover up toddler fingerprints or that my taste changes so fast! Every month I get House Beautiful in the mailbox, sit down and dog ear page after page with my cup of decaf coffee. Some people look at those magazines and find themselves angry about the fact that they “don’t have” or “can’t have”…..I sit {Read More}
