I stitched together Made By Rae’s Big Butt Pants last week. It was a fun pattern to sew. I think it’s the angled butt panel that just makes me smile =) I used Riley Blake’s Cars line. These patterns are just so fun for a little boy. I made a quilt out of them and am now going through the leftovers. Yeah for over-ordering! (Well, I guess it was on purpose!)
Things I loved:
- Simple layout.
- Easy Instructions.
- Sized well for a cloth diaper babe.
- Her additions for pockets, cuffs, etc.
- Print out on my home computer (I like to print out small kid sized projects….I don’t have to wait!)
Things I changed/would like changed:
- I added a bit on the bottom to roll up the cuff. She also mentions this as an addition in the pattern as well.
- Rae has some alternate instructions for the crotch not puckering on the pants. I remembered reading this when I purchased them. I didn’t have them in front of me, but simple enough to do/remember. Maybe putting the alternate instructions in the purchased form (maybe they are now? Someone correct me if they are!)
Things I learned:
- I can’t say that I learned anything, but it’s a pretty simple project for a beginner/intermediate sewer. The only reason I say intermediate is because of the back panel/crotch pucker and the fact that it’s much nicer to have a serger to finish inside seams.
Overall: This is a great pant pattern. I love the way it fits over cloth diaper booty =)
I also did a quick burp cloth, appliqued the bib and it became a little outfit. I think my little one likes it!!
